Musnad Ahmad — Hadith #44828

Muhammad bin Ja’far told us, Sa’id bin Abi Arouba told us, he dictated to me, on the authority of Qatada, on the authority of Salim bin Abi al-Ja’d al-Ghatfani, on the authority of Ma’dan Ibn Abi Talha Al-Yamari, that Omar, may God be pleased with him, stood up as a preacher, thanked God, praised Him, and mentioned the Prophet of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him. May God bless him and grant him peace, and Abu Bakr, may God be pleased with him. Then he said, “I saw a vision as if a rooster pecked me twice, and I do not see that except in the presence of For my sake, and some people are ordering me to become a successor, and God Almighty would not waste his caliphate or religion, nor would He whom He sent him. His Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him. If something hastened upon me, then the caliphate should be a consultation among these six men in whom the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, passed away. And he was satisfied with them, and he was satisfied with them. So which of them have you pledged allegiance to, then listen to him and obey him, and I knew that some men would challenge this. The matter is, and I fought them with this hand with my own hand on the basis of Islam. If they do so, then they are the enemies of God, the misguided infidels, and I, by God, will not pray after me. And they are unfair to them, and what is difficult for them is that they raise it to me. Then he said, “O people, you eat from two trees that do not I see them as nothing but two evil things, this garlic and onion.
