Musnad Ahmad — Hadith #45439

Abdullah narrated to us, Muhammad bin Abi Bakr Al-Muqaddami narrated to us, Hammad bin Yahya Al-Abh narrated to us, Ibn Aoun narrated to us, on the authority of Muhammad, on the authority of Ubaidah, he said, when Ali killed the people of Nahrawan, he said, “They searched for him and found him in a pit under the dead, so they extracted him and he approached.” Ali, may God be pleased with him, to his companions, and he said, “If you had not been arrogant, I would have informed you. God did not promise whoever would kill these people, according to the tongue of Muhammad, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him.” May God bless him and grant him peace. I said, “You heard it from the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace.” He said, “Yes, by the Lord of the Kaaba.”
