حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَصُومُ يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ وَيَأْمُرُ بِهِ.
Abdullah told us, Abu Kurayb Al-Hamdani told us, Muawiyah bin Hisham told us, on the authority of Sufyan Al-Thawri, on the authority of Jabir, on the authority of Saad bin Ubaida, on the authority of Abu Abdul Rahman, on the authority of Ali, may God be pleased with him, that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, used to fast on the day of Ashura and he commands it...
