Musnad Ahmad — Hadith #45614

Abdullah narrated to us, Abu Dawud Al-Mubaraki narrated to me, Suleiman bin Muhammad narrated to us, Abu Shihab narrated to us, on the authority of Shu’bah, on the authority of Al-Hakam, on the authority of my father Al-Murai', on the authority of Ali, who said: We were with the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, at a funeral, and he said: Whoever comes to Medina should not leave a grave. He changed it, and there was no image without smearing it, and no idol without breaking it. He said: Then a man stood up and said, “I.” Then the people of Medina became frightened, so he sat down. Ali, may God be pleased with him, said: On his authority, so I set off, then came and said, O Messenger of God, I have never left a grave in Medina without I leveled it, or any image without staining it. There is no idol but I will destroy it. He said, “Whoever does something like that again has disbelieved in what God revealed to Muhammad, O Ali, do not be a seducer or a seducer.” He said conceitedly, and there is no merchant except the merchant of goodness, for those are the ones who procrastinate in business.
