حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ، مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْمُثَنَّى بْنُ عَوْفٍ الْعَنَزِيُّ، بَصْرِيٌّ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا الْغَضْبَانُ بْنُ حَنْظَلَةَ، أَنَّ أَبَاهُ، حَنْظَلَةَ بْنَ نُعَيْمٍ وَفَدَ إِلَى عُمَرَ فَكَانَ عُمَرُ إِذَا مَرَّ بِهِ إِنْسَانٌ مِنْ الْوَفْدِ سَأَلَهُ مِمَّنْ هُوَ حَتَّى مَرَّ بِهِ أَبِي فَسَأَلَهُ مِمَّنْ أَنْتَ فَقَالَ مِنْ عَنَزَةَ فَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ حَيٌّ مِنْ هَاهُنَا مَبْغِيٌّ عَلَيْهِمْ مَنْصُورُونَ.
Abu Sa`id, the client of Banu Hashim, told us, Al-Muthanna bin Awf Al-Anazi, Basri told us, Al-Ghadban bin Hanzalah told us, His father, Hanzala bin Naim, came to visit Omar, and whenever Omar passed by someone from the delegation, he asked him who he was until my father passed by him and asked him. Who are you from? He said: From a goat? He said: I heard the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, saying: “A living person from here will be rescued.”
