حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ خُثَيْمٍ أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ الْهِلَالِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ ضَمْرَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي مِنْ التَّطَوُّعِ ثَمَانِيَ رَكَعَاتٍ وَبِالنَّهَارِ ثِنْتَيْ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً‏.‏
Abdullah narrated to us, Othman bin Abi Shaybah narrated to me, Saeed bin Khathim Abu Muammar Al-Hilali narrated to us, Fudayl bin Marzuq narrated to us, on the authority of Abi Ishaq, on the authority of Asim bin Damra, on the authority of Ali, may God be pleased with him, who said that the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, used to pray from Voluntary prayer is eight rak'ahs, and twelve rak'ahs during the day.
