Hadith #45700
Abdullah narrated to us, Abdullah bin Sandal and Suwayd bin Saeed narrated to us, all of them in the year two hundred and twenty-six, they said Abu narrated to us Bakr ibn Ayyash, on the authority of Abu Ishaq, on the authority of Asim ibn Damra al-Saluli, said: Ali, may God be pleased with him, said, “The odd number is not obligatory.” Like your obligatory prayers, but the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, prayed the Witr prayer, and then he said, “O people of the Qur’an, pray the Witr prayer, for God is the Witr prayer.” He loves Witr, and this is the wording of the hadith of Abdullah bin Sandal, and their meaning is the same.
