حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا السَّكَنُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَشْعَثُ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَشْوَعَ، عَنْ حَنَشٍ الْكِنَانِيِّ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ بَعَثَ عَامِلَ شُرْطَتِهِ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَتَدْرِي عَلَى مَا أَبْعَثُكَ عَلَى مَا بَعَثَنِي عَلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ أَنْحِتَ كُلَّ يَعْنِي صُورَةً وَأَنْ أُسَوِّيَ كُلَّ قَبْرٍ.
Abdullah narrated to us, Ubayd Allah bin Omar Al-Qawariri narrated to us, Al-Sakan bin Ibrahim narrated to us, Al-Ash’ath bin Suwar narrated to us, on the authority of Ibn Ashhua, on the authority of Hanash al-Kinani, on the authority of Ali, may God be pleased with him, that he sent his police officer and said to him, “Do you know what I am sending you for?” What the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, sent me to do is to carve every image and level every grave.
