Musnad Ahmad — Hadith #45798

Abdullah told us, Abu Khaythamah told me, and Ishaq bin Ismail told us, they said Jarir told us, on the authority of Mansour, on the authority of Abdul Malik Ibn Maysarah, on the authority of Al-Nazzal Ibn Sabrah, he said: We prayed with Ali, may God be pleased with him, at noon, and he went to a place of his to sit in the spacious area. So he sat and we sat around him, then afternoon came and a vessel was brought and he took a handful of it, rinsed his mouth, sniffed, and wiped his face and arms. He wiped his head and wiped his feet, then he got up and drank the rest of his vessel, then he said, “I was told that some men hate it when one of them drinks.” And he is Indeed, I saw the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, do as I did.
