On the authority of Al-Mukhtar ibn Fulful, he said: I asked Anas ibn Malik about performing voluntary prayers after the afternoon prayer, and he said: Umar used to beat his hands during the prayer after the afternoon prayer. Asr, and we were praying two rak'ahs at the time of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, after sunset before the sunset prayer, so I said to him: Did the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, lead them in prayer? He said: He used to see us praying for them, but he did not order us or forbid us. Narrated by Muslim
