وَعَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ قَالَ: كُنَّا بِحِمْصَ فَقَرَأَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ سُورَةَ يُوسُفَ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ: مَا هَكَذَا أُنْزِلَتْ. فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ: وَاللَّهِ لَقَرَأْتُهَا عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: «أَحْسَنْتَ» فَبَيْنَا هُوَ يُكَلِّمُهُ إِذْ وَجَدَ مِنْهُ رِيحَ الْخَمْرِ فَقَالَ: أَتَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَ وَتُكَذِّبُ بِالْكِتَابِ؟ فَضَرَبَهُ الْحَد
On the authority of Alqamah, he said: We were in Homs when Ibn Masoud recited Surat Yusuf, and a man said: This is not how it was revealed. Abdullah said: By God, I recited it at the time of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and he said: “You have done well.” While he was speaking to him, he found some of it. The smell of wine and he said: Do you drink wine and deny the Scripture? The punishment struck him
