Hadith #49502
On the authority of Abu Saeed Al-Khudri, may God be pleased with him, he said: The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “There was among the Children of Israel a man who killed nine And ninety people. Then he went out to ask, and came to a monk and asked him, and he said: Is there any way to repent? He said: No, so he killed him and started asking, and a man said to him: “Come.” The village of such-and-such, then death overtook him, and his chest was consumed with it, and the angels of mercy and the angels of torment disputed over it, so God inspired To this one, that you should draw near, and to this one, that you should distance yourself. So he said, “Measure what is between them.” And he was found to be closer to this one by a span, so he was forgiven.
