وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فِي يَدِ رَجُلٍ فَنَزَعَهُ فَطَرَحَهُ فَقَالَ: «يَعْمِدُ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى جَمْرَةٍ مِنْ نَارٍ فَيَجْعَلُهَا فِي يَدِهِ؟» فَقِيلَ لِلرَّجُلِ بَعْدَمَا ذَهَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: خُذْ خَاتَمَكَ انْتَفِعْ بِهِ. قَالَ: لَا وَاللَّهِ لَا آخُذُهُ أَبَدًا وَقَدْ طَرَحَهُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ. رَوَاهُ مُسلم
On the authority of Abdullah bin Abbas, that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, saw a gold ring on the hand of a man, so he took it off and threw it out and said: “He is baptizing.” “Has any of you touched a coal of fire and put it in his hand?” It was said to the man after the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, had gone: Take Benefit from your ring. He said: No, by God, I will never take it, and the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, had proposed it. Narrated by Muslim
