Sahih Muslim — Hadith #7634

Yahya ibn Yahya told us, saying: I read to Malik on the authority of Salih ibn Kaysan, on the authority of Ubayd Allah ibn Abd Allah ibn Utbah, on the authority of Zayd ibn Khalid al-Juhani, who said: The Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, led us in the morning prayer at al-Hudaybiyyah after a night of rain. When he finished, he turned to the people and said: “Do you know what your Lord said?” They said, “Allah and His Messenger know best.” He said, “Some of My servants have become believers in Me and disbelievers. As for those who say, ‘We have been given rain by the grace and mercy of Allah,’ they are believers in Me and disbelievers in the stars. And as for those who say, ‘We have been given rain by such and such a star,’ they are disbelievers in Me and believers in the stars.”
