Musnad Ahmad — Hadith #44620

Abdullah bin Yazid told us, Haywa told us, Abu Aqeel told us, on the authority of his cousin, on the authority of Uqba bin Amir, that he went out with The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, in the Battle of Tabuk. The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, sat one day talking to his companions. He said, “Who? He got up when the sun had set, and he performed ablution, and performed the ablution well, then he stood up and prayed two rak’ahs, and his sins were forgiven, so he was as his mother had given birth to him. He said Uqba bin Amir, so I said, Praise be to God who has allowed me to hear this from the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. Then Omar bin said to me: Al-Khattab, may God be pleased with him, and he was sitting facing me. Amazed by this? The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said, “I am amazed by this before.” If you come, I said, “What is the matter with my father and my mother?” Omar said. The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “Whoever performs ablution will do well.” Ablution, then he raised his gaze to the sky and said, “I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant.” And for His Messenger, eight gates of Paradise were opened for him, and he may enter through whichever one he wished.
