حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ بَيْنَا هُوَ قَائِمٌ يَخْطُبُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ فَدَخَلَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَنَادَاهُ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَيَّةُ سَاعَةٍ هَذِهِ فَقَالَ إِنِّي شُغِلْتُ الْيَوْمَ فَلَمْ أَنْقَلِبْ إِلَى أَهْلِي حَتَّى سَمِعْتُ النِّدَاءَ فَلَمْ أَزِدْ عَلَى أَنْ تَوَضَّأْتُ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ الْوُضُوءَ أَيْضًا وَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمْ وَفِي مَوْضِعٍ آخَرَ وَقَدْ عَلِمْتَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَأْمُرُ بِالْغُسْلِ.
Abd al-Razzaq told us, Muammar told us, on the authority of al-Zuhri, on the authority of Salim, on the authority of his father, that Omar ibn al-Khattab, may God be pleased with him, was standing among us. He was giving a sermon on Friday, then a man from the companions of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, entered and Omar, may God be pleased with him, called him what time it was. This one, and he said, “I was busy today, and I did not go to my family until I heard the call, so I did nothing more than perform ablution.” Omar, may God be pleased with him, said: Ablution also, as you have learned, and in another place, and you have learned, that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, used to command ablution.
