Hadith #44846
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الْأَحْوَلِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَرْجِسَ، قَالَ رَأَيْتُ الْأُصَيْلِعَ يَعْنِي عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يُقَبِّلُ الْحَجَرَ وَيَقُولُ أَمَا إِنِّي أَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ حَجَرٌ وَلَكِنْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُقَبِّلُكَ‏.‏
Muhammad ibn Ja`far narrated to us, Shu`bah narrated to us, on the authority of Asim al-Ahwal, on the authority of Abdullah ibn Sarjis, he said, I saw Al-Asila’, meaning Omar ibn Al-Khattab, may God be pleased with him, kisses the stone and says, “I know that you are a stone, but I saw the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him.” May peace and kisses you
