Musnad Ahmad — Hadith #45106

Yahya narrated to us, on the authority of Shu’bah, Amr ibn Murrah narrated to us, on the authority of Abdullah ibn Salama, on the authority of Ali, may God be pleased with him, who said: The Messenger of God passed by me. May God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and I was in pain and I was saying: O God, if my time has come, then comfort me, and if it is late, raise me up, even if it is A calamity, so be patient with me. He said, “What did you say?” So I repeated it. He hit me with his foot and said, “What did you say?” He said, “So I repeated it.” He said, “O God, grant him health or heal him.” He said, “So what?” I complained of this pain after Affan told us, Shu`bah told us, on the authority of Amr ibn Murrah, he said, I heard Abdullah ibn Salamah on the authority of Ali, may God be pleased with him, said: I was complaining, so the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, passed by me and mentioned its meaning, except that he said, O God, grant him health. Heal him, for I have no longer complained of this pain.
