Hadith #45225
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ ضَمْرَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ لَيْسَ الْوَتْرُ بِحَتْمٍ كَهَيْئَةِ الصَّلَاةِ وَلَكِنْ سُنَّةٌ سَنَّهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, on the authority of Abu Ishaq, on the authority of Asim ibn Damrah, on the authority of Ali, may God be pleased with him, who said: It is not Witr is definitely like the form of prayer, but it is a sunnah that was enacted by the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace.
