حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الْخَيْرِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زُرَيْرٍ الْغَافِقِيِّ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ أُهْدِيَتْ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَغْلَةٌ فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَوْ أَنَّا أَنْزَيْنَا الْحُمُرَ عَلَى خَيْلِنَا فَجَاءَتْنَا بِمِثْلِ هَذِهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّمَا يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ الَّذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ.
Hashim told us, Laith told us, meaning Ibn Saad, on the authority of Yazid bin Abi Habib, on the authority of Abu Al-Khair, on the authority of Abdullah bin Zurayr Al-Ghafiqi, on the authority of Ali bin Abi Talib, who said: A mule was given as a gift to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. We said, O Messenger of God, if only I We mounted the donkeys on our horses, and they brought us something like this, and the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: Only those who do not know do that.
