Musnad Ahmad — Hadith #45276

Affan told us, Hammad bin Salama told us, Ali bin Zaid told us, on the authority of Abdullah bin Al-Harith bin Nawfal, that Othman bin Affan, May God be pleased with him. He descended on a precipice, and a partridge was brought in the pot, with its legs drawn, and he was sent to Ali, may God be pleased with him, while he was jumping. A camel of his came, and the knock was falling from his hands, so he caught Ali and the people caught up, so Ali said, “Who is here here who is bravest? Do you know that the Prophet May God’s prayers and peace be upon him. A Bedouin came to him with ostrich eggs and wild tiger eggs. He said, “Feed them to your family, for we are forbidden.” They said, “Yes.” Then Othman left his bed and came down and said, “You have done evil to us.”
