Musnad Ahmad — Hadith #45375

Muhammad bin Fudayl told us, on the authority of Ata’ bin Al-Sa’ib, on the authority of Maysarah, he said: I saw Ali, may God be pleased with him, drinking while standing. He said, “So I told him, ‘You should drink.’” He said: If he drinks while standing, I have seen the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, drink while standing, and if he drinks while sitting, then he I saw the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, drinking while sitting.
