حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي سُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الصُّبَيُّ بْنُ الْأَشْعَثِ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ خَيْرٍ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَلَا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِخَيْرِ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ بَعْدَ نَبِيِّهَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَالثَّانِي عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا وَلَوْ شِئْتُ سَمَّيْتُ الثَّالِثَ قَالَ أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ فَتَهَجَّاهَا عَبْدُ خَيْرٍ لِكَيْ لَا تَمْتَرُونَ فِيمَا قَالَ عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ.
Abdullah narrated to us, Suwayd bin Saeed narrated to me, Al-Sabi bin Al-Ash’ath narrated to us, on the authority of Abu Ishaq, on the authority of Abd Khair, on the authority of Ali, may God be pleased with him. On his authority, shall I not inform you of the best of this nation after its prophets, Abu Bakr and the second, Omar, may God be pleased with them? And if I wish, I may be named. Third, Abu Ishaq said, so Abd Khair spelled it so that you would not confuse what Ali, may God be pleased with him, said.
