Musnad Ahmad — Hadith #45418

Abdullah told us, Ubayd Allah bin Omar Al-Qawariri told us, Yunus bin Arqam told us, Yazid bin Abi Ziyad told us, on the authority of Abdul Rahman Ibn Abi Laila said, “I witnessed Ali, may God be pleased with him, in Al-Rahba, chanting to the people. I will chant to God, whoever hears the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him.” May God bless him and grant him peace. He said, “On the day of Ghadir Khumm, whose master I am, Ali is his master when he rose and testified.” Abdul Rahman said, “So he rose twelve times.” Badly, it was as if I was looking at one of them. They said, “We bear witness that we heard the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, say on the day of Ghadir Khumm.” Do I not have more right over the believers than their own selves and my wives over their mothers? So we said, “Yes, O Messenger of God.” He said, “Then whose master I am, then my master is mine.” Oh God, befriend those who are loyal to him and be hostile to those who are hostile to him.
