Musnad Ahmad — Hadith #45587

Abdullah told us, my father and Ishaq bin Ismail told me, they said Ibn Fudayl told us, on the authority of Ata’ bin Al-Sa’ib, and Abdullah told us, he said Sufyan bin Waki’ narrated to me, Imran bin Uyaynah narrated to us, all of us, on the authority of Ata’ bin Al-Sa’ib, on the authority of Maysarah, I saw Ali, who was pleased with him. On his authority, he drank while standing, and I said, “Drink while standing.” He said, “If I drink while standing, I have seen the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, drink while standing.” And if he drinks while sitting, I have seen the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, drinking while sitting.
