Musnad Ahmad — Hadith #45631

Abdullah told us, Hajjaj bin Yusuf Al-Sha’er told me, Abdul-Samad bin Abdul-Warith told me, Yazid bin Abi Salih told us, that Abu Al-Wadhi, Abbad, narrated to him that he said, “We were heading to Kufa with Ali bin Abi Talib, may God be pleased with him, and when we reached A journey of two or three nights from Harwara. Many people among us were estranged, so we mentioned that to Ali, may God be pleased with him, and he said, “Do not be alarmed by their situation.” They will return, so he mentioned the hadith in its length. He said, “Praise be to God, Ali bin Abi Talib, may God be pleased with him, and he said: My friend told me The leader of these is a man whose hand was bruised, and on his nipple were hairs as if they were the tails of a jerboa. They searched for him but did not find him, so we came to him. So we said, “We did not find him.” He said, “Then seek him. By God, I have not lied, nor have I lied.” Three times, we said, “We have not found him.” Then Ali himself came and made He said, “Return that,” until a man from Kufa came and said, “Here is that.” Ali, may God be pleased with him, said, “God is great, he will not come to you.” Someone tells you who his father is, and people say, “This is a king.” Ali, may God be pleased with him, says, “Whose son is he?”
