حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ، أَنْبَأَنَا الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ أَرْطَاةَ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُخَيْمِرَةَ، عَنْ شُرَيْحِ بْنِ هَانِئٍ، قَالَ سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا عَنْ الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ فَقَالَتْ سَلْ عَلِيًّا فَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِهَذَا مِنِّي هُوَ كَانَ يُسَافِرُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَأَلْتُ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِلْمُقِيمِ يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ وَلِلْمُسَافِرِ ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ وَلَيَالِيهِنَّ.
Yazid told us, Al-Hajjaj bin Artat told us, on the authority of Al-Hakam, on the authority of Al-Qasim bin Mukhaymara, on the authority of Shuraih bin Hani, he said, I asked Aisha May God be pleased with her, about wiping over the socks. She said, “Ask Ali, for he is more knowledgeable about this than me. He was traveling with the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace.” So I asked Ali, may God be pleased with him, and he said: The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: For the resident one day and one night, and for the traveler three days.
