Musnad Ahmad — Hadith #45769

Aswad bin Amir told us, Sharik told us, on the authority of Mansour, on the authority of Rabi’i, on the authority of Ali, may God be pleased with him, who said, “The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, came.” Some of the Quraysh greeted each other and said, “O Muhammad, we are your neighbors and allies, and some of our slaves have come to you with no desire to Religion and no desire for jurisprudence. Rather, they fled from our property and our property, so return them to us. He said to Abu Bakr, may God be pleased with him, “What do you say?” He said They were right. They are your neighbors. He said, and the face of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, changed. Then he said to Omar, may God be pleased with him, “What do you say?” he said. They believed that they were your neighbors and allies, so the face of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, changed.
