Hadith #48231
On the authority of Ata’ bin Yasar and on the authority of Abu Sa’id, he said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “If one of you doubts about his prayer and does not know how many times he has prayed three or four, let him ask it.” Doubt and let him act upon what he is certain of, then he should prostrate two prostrations before he says the salutation. If he prayed five, then his prayers will be accepted for him. And if he prayed to complete four prayers, they would be to discourage Satan.” It was narrated by Muslim and Malik narrated it on the authority of Ata’ with a mursal report. And in his narration: “He interceded for her with these two prostrations.”
