Mishkat al-Masabih — Hadith #50448

On the authority of Sahl bin Saad Al-Sa’idi, may God be pleased with him, he said: Uwaimir Al-Ajlani said: O Messenger of God, have you seen a man who found a man with his wife? Should he kill him? So they kill him? Or how should I do? Then the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “This was revealed about you and your companion, so go and bring it.” He said Sahl: So we talked in the mosque while I was with the people in the presence of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. When they had finished, Uwaimir said: I lied to her, O Messenger of God. If I keep her, I divorce her three times. Then the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “Wait. The eyes are large and the buttocks have scratched the legs, so I do not think that Uwaimir has harmed her, and if she brings it, it turns red as if it were a free woman, so I do not think that Uwaimir has killed her. Unless he lied to her and she gave him the epithet that was given to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, from Tasdiq. Awimir, who was still traced back to his mother.
