Awf bin Malik, on the authority of his father, said: I said: O Messenger of God, did you see a cousin of mine coming to him, but he does not give me anything or pray to me, then he needs me and comes to me? Then he asked me, and I had sworn not to give it to him or to keep him. So he commanded me to go to what is best and make amends for my oath. Narrated by Al-Nasa’i and Ibn Majah, and in a narration, he said: I said: O Messenger of God, my cousin comes to me and I swear that I will neither give him nor keep him. He said: “Atone for your oath.”
