Mishkat al-Masabih — Hadith #51357

On the authority of Abu Asib, he said: The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, went out at night, and he passed by me, so he called me, so I went out to him. Then he passed by Abu Bakr, and he called him, and he went out. Then he passed by Omar and called him and he went out to him and went until he entered a wall of some Ansar and said to the owner of the wall: “Feed us with food.” So he brought a stalk and placed it, and the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and his companions ate. Then he called for cold water and drank, and he said: “You will be asked about this bliss on the Day of Resurrection.” He said: Then Omar took the stalk and struck the ground with it until the seeds were scattered before the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. Then he said: O Messenger of God, will we be responsible for this on the Day of Resurrection? He said: “Yes, except for three rags with which a man wraps his private parts, or a piece of cloth with which to quench his hunger, or a stone to protect him from heat and cold.” Narrated by Ahmad and Al-Bayhaqi in “Shu’ab Al-Iman”.
