Hadith #52289
On the authority of Abu Musa, on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, that he said: “Indeed, when God desires mercy for a nation of His servants, He takes its prophet before it.” So He made it a means for her and an advance before her hands, and if he wanted to destroy a nation, he punished it while its prophet was alive, then destroyed it while he looked on and it agreed. His eyes were ruined when they lied to him and disobeyed his command. Narrated by Muslim
