Hadith #52477
On the authority of Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may God be pleased with him), two men disputed before the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) over an animal, neither of them having proof. The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) ruled that it should be divided equally between them. This was narrated by Ahmad, Abu Dawud, and al-Nasa'i, and this is his wording. He said: Its chain of narration is good. (1) The phrase "the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him)" is missing from manuscript "A". (2) His statement: “The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace” from “A”. 3 - Weak. It was narrated by Ahmad (4/402), Abu Dawud (3613-3615), and Al-Nasa’i in “Al-Kubra” (3/487). Al-Hafiz himself explained its defects in “Al-Talkhis” (4/209-210).
