Hadith #37871
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: A woman should not mourn for more than three days for the death of a person. However, she may mourn for her husband for four months and ten days and not wear colored clothes, but she may wear clothes made of colored thread, not use antimony, not apply perfume. However, she may use some perfume of Qust or Azfar for purity. This wording is from Muslim. Abu Dawud and An-Nasai also state: “Do not use ‘Khizaab’ (henna)” and An-Nasai states: “Do not use a comb.” [1210]
