Hadith #38318
On the authority of Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-Aas, may God be pleased with them both, he said: I heard the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, saying that God does not take knowledge away. He snatches it from the people, but he seizes knowledge as he seizes the scholars, so that when no scholar is left, he takes the people as ignorant leaders. So they were asked and they gave fatwas without knowledge, so they went astray and were led astray. Agreed upon.
