حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ، أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَنْهَاكُمْ أَنْ تَحْلِفُوا بِآبَائِكُمْ قَالَ عُمَرُ فَوَاللَّهِ مَا حَلَفْتُ بِهَا مُنْذُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْهَا وَلَا تَكَلَّمْتُ بِهَا ذَاكِرًا وَلَا آثِرًا.
Bishr bin Shuaib bin Abi Hamza told us, he said: My father told me, on the authority of Al-Zuhri, he said: Salem bin Abdullah told me that Abdullah bin Omar, told him that Omar bin Al-Khattab, may God be pleased with him, said: I heard the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, saying that God Almighty And God Almighty forbids you from swearing by your fathers. Omar said, “By God, I have not sworn by it since I heard the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, forbidding it.” I did not speak of it in remembrance or in preference.
