Musnad Ahmad — Hadith #44654

Hushaym told us, Ali bin Zaid told us, on the authority of Yusuf bin Mahran, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, he said, Omar bin Al-Khattab, may God be pleased with him, delivered a speech. Hushaym said, “One time we gave a speech, and he praised and praised God Almighty. He mentioned stoning and said, ‘Do not deceive me about it, for it is one of God’s limits.’” Indeed, the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, was stoned, and we will stone after him, and had it not been that those who say that Omar was added in the Book of God that which is not of it I would have written it on one side of the Qur’an. Omar ibn al-Khattab, may God be pleased with him, witnessed and said: Hushaym Murrah and Abdul Rahman Ibn Awf and so-and-so and so-and-so that the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, stoned and we stoned after him. Indeed, there will be a people after you. They deny stoning, and the Antichrist, and intercession, and the torment of the grave, and a people who will be brought out of the Fire after they have been burned.
