حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ يَزِيدَ بْنَ خُمَيْرٍ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ السِّمْطِ، أَنَّهُ أَتَى أَرْضًا يُقَالُ لَهَا دَوْمِينُ مِنْ حِمْصَ عَلَى رَأْسِ ثَمَانِيَةَ عَشَرَ مِيلًا فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ أَتُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَقَالَ رَأَيْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ بِذِي الْحُلَيْفَةِ يُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَسَأَلْتُهُ فَقَالَ إِنَّمَا أَفْعَلُ كَمَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَوْ قَالَ فَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
Muhammad ibn Ja`far narrated to us, Shu`bah narrated to us, he said: I heard Yazid ibn Khumayr, narrating on the authority of Habib ibn Ubaid, on the authority of Jubayr ibn Nufayr, on the authority of Ibn Al-Samit, he came to a land called the Domain of Homs at the head of eighteen miles, and he prayed two rak’ahs, so I told him, “Should I pray?” Two rak'ahs, and he said, I saw Omar ibn al-Khattab in Dhul-Hulayfah praying two rak'ahs, so I asked him and he said, "I am only doing as I saw the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace." And peace be upon him, or he said, so the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, did.
