حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ مُخَارِقٍ، عَنْ طَارِقِ بْنِ شِهَابٍ، قَالَ شَهِدْتُ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ وَاللَّهِ مَا عِنْدَنَا كِتَابٌ نَقْرَؤُهُ عَلَيْكُمْ إِلَّا كِتَابَ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى وَهَذِهِ الصَّحِيفَةَ مُعَلَّقَةً بِسَيْفِهِ أَخَذْتُهَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِيهَا فَرَائِضُ الصَّدَقَةِ مُعَلَّقَةً بِسَيْفٍ لَهُ حِلْيَتُهُ حَدِيدٌ أَوْ قَالَ بَكَرَاتُهُ حَدِيدٌ أَيْ حِلَقُهُ.
Hashim bin Al-Qasim told us, Sharik told us, on the authority of Mukhariq, on the authority of Tariq bin Shihab, who said: I witnessed Ali, may God be pleased with him, saying: The pulpit, by God, we have no book to read to you except the book of God Almighty, and this scroll hanging on his sword I took it from The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, in which the obligatory charity is attached to a sword with an iron ring, or he said, its wheels are iron, meaning its pommel.
