حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ، أَنْبَأَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ عَلِيٌّ لِأَهْلِ النَّهْرَوَانِ مِنْهُمْ رَجُلٌ مَثْدُونُ الْيَدِ أَوْ مُودَنُ الْيَدِ أَوْ مُخْدَجُ الْيَدِ لَوْلَا أَنْ تَبْطَرُوا لَأَنْبَأْتُكُمْ مَا قَضَى اللَّهُ عَلَى لِسَانِ نَبِيِّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِمَنْ قَتَلَهُمْ قَالَ عَبِيدَةُ فَقُلْتُ لِعَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ آنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ قَالَ نَعَمْ وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ يَحْلِفُ عَلَيْهَا ثَلَاثًا.
Yazid told us, Hisham told us, on the authority of Muhammad, on the authority of Ubaidah, he said: Ali said to the people of Nahrawan, “Among them is a man with a long hand, or a man with a long hand.” The hand or the place of the hand. If you had not been clever, I would have informed you of what God had decreed on the tongue of His Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, for those who killed them. Ubaidah said, “So I said to Ali, may God be pleased with him, ‘Did you hear him?’ He said, ‘Yes, and the Lord of the Kaaba takes three oaths about it.’”
