Mishkat al-Masabih — Hadith #48197

On the authority of Muawiyah Ibn Al-Hakam, he said: While I was praying with the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, a man from among the people sneezed, and I said: May God have mercy on you. So the people rejected me with their eyes. So I said: Oh, my mother is bereaved, what is the matter with you, you look at me? They started hitting their hands on their thighs. I had never seen a teacher before him or anyone. After him, his teaching was better than him. By God, he did not mock me, nor hit me, nor cursed me.
