Mishkat al-Masabih — Hadith #50713

On the authority of Yazid bin Nu’aym bin Hazal, on the authority of his father, he said: Ma’iz bin Malik was an orphan in my father’s care, and he struck a neighbourhood’s slave girl, so he said to him: My father: Go to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and tell him what you did, perhaps he will ask forgiveness for you, but he only wants this to be a hope for him. He came to him and said: O Messenger of God, I have committed adultery, so impose upon me the Book of God. He even said it four times. The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: You have You said it four times, so to whom? He said: With so-and-so. He said: Did you have sex with her? He said: Yes. He said: “Did you have intercourse with her?” He said: Yes. He said: “Did you have sex with her?” He said: Yes. He said: So he ordered him to be stoned, and he was taken out to Al-Hurra. When he was stoned, he found that he was touching the stones, so he was frightened, so he went out in distress, and he found him. Abdullah bin Unais, and his companions were helpless, so he pulled out a camel’s back for him and threw it at him, killing him. Then he came to the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him. May God bless him and grant him peace. He mentioned that to him, and he said: “Would you not leave him alone, perhaps he might repent?” Then God will forgive him.” Narrated by Abu Dawood
