On the authority of Jabir, he said: One day the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, wore a brocade cloak that had been given to him, then he was about to take it off and send it to Omar. It was said: “It is almost time for me to take it away, O Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace.” He said: “Gabriel forbade me from doing that.” Then Omar came crying and said: Oh Messenger of God, I hated something and you gave it to me, so what is mine? He said: “I did not give it to you for you to wear, but rather I gave it to you for you to sell.” He sold it for two thousand dirhams. Narrated by Muslim
