Hadith #29967
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ وَكِيعٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ "‏ لَوْ كُنْتُ مُؤَمِّرًا أَحَدًا مِنْ غَيْرِ مَشُورَةٍ لأَمَّرْتُ ابْنَ أُمِّ عَبْدٍ ‏"‏ ‏.‏
Sufyan bin Waki` told us, he said, my father told us, on the authority of Sufyan al-Thawri, on the authority of Abu Ishaq, on the authority of al-Harith, on the authority of Ali, the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said May God bless him and grant him peace “If I were to appoint anyone as commander without consulting him, I would appoint Ibn Umm Abd.”
