Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #30112

Muhammad bin Bashar told us, he said, Wahb bin Jarir told us, he said, my father told us, he said, I heard Yahya bin Ayyub, speaking on the authority of Yazid bin Abi Habib, on the authority of Abd al-Rahman ibn Shamasa, on the authority of Zayd ibn Thabit, who said: We were with the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, compiling the Qur’an from pieces of paper. Then the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “Blessed are the sheep.” So we said, “Why is that, O Messenger of God?” He said, “Because the angels of the Most Gracious are spreading out.” Its wings are upon it.” This is a good and strange hadith, but we know it from the hadith of Yahya bin Ayyub.
