Hadith #38997
وَعَنْ حميْدِ بن عبْدِ الرَّحْمن أنَّهُ سَمِعَ مُعاويَةَ رضي اللَّه عنْهُ عامَ حجَّ علَى المِنْبَر وَتَنَاول قُصَّةً مِنْ شَعْرٍ كَانَتْ في يَدِ حَرِسيٍّ فَقَالَ: يَا أهْل المَدِينَةِ أيْنَ عُلَمَاؤكُمْ؟، سمِعْتُ النبيَّ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم يَنْهَى عنْ مِثْلِ هَذِهِ ويقُولُ:
"إنًَّمَا هَلَكَتْ بنُو إسْرَائِيل حِينَ اتخذ هذه نِسَاؤُهُمْ" متفقٌ عليه.
And on the authority of Hamid bin Abdul Rahman that he heard Muawiyah, may God be pleased with him, in the year he performed Hajj on the pulpit and he took up a piece of poetry that was in the hands of a guard and said: O people of Medina, where is Your scholars? I heard the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, forbidding such things and saying: “The Children of Israel were destroyed when they took this Their wives” Agreed upon.
