Hadith #39692
On the authority of Aisha, may God be pleased with her, she said: I asked the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, about the plague, and he told me: “It is a torment that God sends on whomever He wills.” And God has made it a mercy for the believers. No one is afflicted by the plague and remains in his country, patient and hoping for reward, knowing that nothing will befall him except what God has ordained for him that he will have a reward like that of a martyr.” Narrated by Al-Bukhari
