حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمٌ، وَحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ زَائِدَةَ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ زِرٍّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ لَمَّا قُبِضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَتْ الْأَنْصَارُ مِنَّا أَمِيرٌ وَمِنْكُمْ أَمِيرٌ فَأَتَاهُمْ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ أَلَسْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ أَمَرَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنْ يَؤُمَّ النَّاسَ فَأَيُّكُمْ تَطِيبُ نَفْسُهُ أَنْ يَتَقَدَّمَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَقَالَتْ الْأَنْصَارُ نَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ أَنْ نَتَقَدَّمَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ.
Muawiyah bin Amr told us, Zaida told us, Asim and Hussein bin Ali told us, on the authority of Zaida, on the authority of Asim, on the authority of Zirr, on the authority of Abdullah, He said, when the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, was arrested, the Ansar said, “Among us is a leader and a leader is from you.” So Umar, may God be pleased with him, came to them. He said, “O community of Ansar, do you not know that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, ordered Abu Bakr, may God be pleased with him, to lead in prayer?” The people: Which of you would like to advance Abu Bakr, may God be pleased with him? The Ansar said: We seek refuge in God lest we advance Abu Bakr. May God be pleased with him
