Musnad Ahmad — Hadith #44783

Yaqoub told us, my father told us, on the authority of Salih, Ibn Shihab said, and Salem said, so I heard Abdullah bin Omar, saying, Omar said, “Send me a doctor.” He looks at my wound. He said, “So they sent for an Arab doctor. He made Omar drink wine, and the wine looked like blood when it came out.” The stab wound under the navel. He said, “So I called another doctor from the Ansar from Banu Muawiyah, and he gave him milk to drink, and the milk came out solid and white from the stab wound.” So the doctor said to him, O Commander of the Faithful, take your word. Then Omar, the brother of Banu Muawiyah, told me the truth, and if I had said otherwise, I would have lied to you. He said, so the people cried for him when they heard that, so he said, “Do not cry for us. Whoever was crying, let him come out.” Did you not hear what the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said? He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The dead person is tortured because his family weeps over him. For that reason, Abdullah did not allow himself to cry over him. None of his children or anyone else will perish.
